Microsoft Makes Calendar Sync Work

Posted on July 26th, 2008 in Outlook 2007, Outlook XP_2003

Sarah Perez of ReadWriteWeb reviewed Outlook connector: “For anyone who uses multiple calendars, you know that one of the big issues that’s being addressed by numerous applications is getting your calendars to sync up with each other. We’ve covered some solutions to this problem before, but we had not seen a truly integrated offering that allowed you to sync up a work calendar in desktop software with an onlne calendar without need of a third-party app of some sort…that is, until yesterday. It seems that Microsoft has finally given the people what they want and have provided a calendar sync tool that actually makes all of Microsoft’s calendaring programs work together.” Read teh whole article here.

Posted on March 29th, 2007 in Google Calendar, Outlook 2007, Outlook XP_2003

Stop sharing your calendar, Start sharing your availability is the Availitime motto.

Think of AvailiTime as instant messenger for your availability. Just add your calendar and invite your contacts. The private details of your calendar are kept safe and secure while your contacts can see when you are available.

You control what portions of your calendar are shared. Only available to vendors in the afternoon? AvailiTime lets you manage that. Evenings reserved for friends and family? Done. Works for Outlook, Lotus Notes, Google Calendar and Salesforce.com

Outlook on the Desktop 1.3.1

Posted on February 19th, 2007 in Outlook 2007, Outlook XP_2003

Have you ever wondered why it’s such a pain in the butt to use calendaring programs on your computer? It’s simple: they don’t mimic their real life counterparts very well. People who use calendars to organize their daily lives have them visible in plain sight nearly all of the time. Yet, on the computer, you have to go through a myriad of windows and clicks before you can even see your calendar. So to bridge the gap, I’ve come up with this little program that will place the Microsoft Outlook Calendaring system right on your desktop. The calendar object gets pinned to your desktop and stays there all the time in plain sight so you can always see what’s upcoming. Of course, the benefits don’t stop there … because it’s the actual Microsoft Outlook calendar, you get all it’s functionality, such as direct editing, drag and drop of files, etc. You have to see it to believe it.

Outlook causes mini Y2k

Posted on February 15th, 2007 in Outlook 2007, Outlook XP_2003

For three weeks this March and April, Microsoft warns that users of its calendar programs “should view any appointments … as suspect until they communicate with all meeting invitees.”Wow, that’s sort of jarring - is something treacherous afoot?

Actually, it’s a potential problem in any software that was programmed before a 2005 law decreed that daylight-saving time would start three weeks earlier and end one week later, beginning this year.

The US congress decided that more early evening daylight would translate into energy savings.
