Blog-to-calendar makes diary

A post is as much a moment as a meeting is: something happens at a certain time. This made me think why not send blog posts to a calendar via ICS just like you would do with RSS to a RSS reader (ICS= calendar RSS)?

So what I did is I wrote a WordPress plugin that makes the posts of this blog fly right into Google Calendar, Vista Calendar, 30boxes, Outlook 2007, iCal etc. If all the blogs that your are reading would do this and you would subscribe to those blogs from your calendar in stead of your RSS reader you would a) haveĀ  one application less to worry about (RSS reader) and b) create a nice diary of blog posts in your calendar.
The plugin is in (pre)alpha but you can get a grasp of what I mean in the left column where it says: syndicate/30boxes (so far I got it only running on 30Boxes; the rest shouldn’t be to hard). Let me know what you think.

  1. 30 Boxes is all about that blogs and media as calendar moments. In fact, you really should install our Blog Timeline WordPress plugin which renders your blog as a slick ajax calendar.
